Reece Robson Set for Long-Awaited Roosters Debut

Roosters

Star hooker Reece Robson is on track to make his highly-anticipated debut for the Sydney Roosters in Round 3 after making a rapid recovery from pre-season thumb surgery.

Robson, who joined the Roosters as one of the biggest signings of the off-season, had been racing the clock to be fit for the start of the campaign. While he missed the opening two rounds, the club has confirmed he's passed all fitness tests and is ready to go for Friday night's blockbuster against the Penrith Panthers.

What Robson Brings

At his best, Robson is one of the most dynamic hookers in the NRL. His running game from dummy half is elite — he has the acceleration to exploit tired markers and the footwork to create something out of nothing. His service from the ruck is crisp and his defensive work rate around the middle is exactly what the Roosters need.

Having previously established himself as a representative-calibre player, Robson's addition to the Roosters' already star-studded roster gives Trent Robinson another weapon in the middle of the park.

"He's been champing at the bit. The thumb has healed well and he's looked sharp at training. We're excited to get him out there in the Tricolours for the first time." — Roosters coaching staff

Timing is Everything

The Roosters sit at 1-1 after two rounds, with a Round 1 win followed by a loss. Adding Robson to the spine for a Friday night clash against the reigning premiers is a significant boost, even if the Panthers remain favourites.

For tipping purposes, Robson's inclusion narrows the gap in this game — but Penrith's championship pedigree and their 65% win probability still make them the pick. Watch for Robson to make an immediate impact off the back of what will be a fast-paced contest at Allianz Stadium.
